About Us

The Islamic Curriculum Development Council (ICDC) is a curriculum development, assessment and certification body for Islamic studies in integrated schools in Kenya and the region

Our History and Founding Vision

ICDC was formed to address a significant challenge in Islamic education – the lack of a standardized curriculum and the heavy academic burden on students.

Before 2013, many students attended government or private schools during the day and Madrassas in the evening, leading to exhaustion and often causing students to abandon their Islamic studies.

A critical meeting was held in early 2013, attended by eleven schools, where the collective need to establish a council for curriculum development and examination supervision was agreed upon. This led to the formation of the ICDC to provide a unified system where religious and modern studies are integrated into a single schedule.

Our Vision

Creating a cohesive and comprehensive Islamic education system that integrates religious teachings with modern educational standards.
